Crazy how time flies. Will blog my final post soon.
The Killers' Boots mv came out this week.
Or you might prefer a blast from the past. You are My Sunshine sung in 1940 by Jimmy Wakely and the Sunshine Girls. Sidenote: I always forget how sad this song actually is.
Check out YouTube Time Machine for other great vids through the decades. Goes as far back as 1860. Refresh page for more vids. [Source: Goollery]
Now that we've entered December, I thought I'd post some classic Christmas songs covered by different singers. These aren't necessarily my favorite covers (I'm a Bing Crosby girl myself), but I tried to mix it up a bit. Enjoy!
Dean Martin covers Silver Bells
(I'm Dreaming of a) White Christmas sung by Bing Crosby
Carol of the Bells - both instrumental (bell) and choir versions
O Holy Night covered by Celine Dion (I put this on each year)
Let It Snow sung by Doris Day
Handel's Hallelujah Chorus (fantastic, but no offense, but we sang it better)
Or the Silent Monks' version of this.
God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen sung by Loreena McKennitt
Silent Night sung by Sixpence None the Richer ft Dan Haseltine (I put this on last year too)
Winter Wonderland sung by Elvis Presley
We Three Kings fun version sung by Hugh Jackman, David Hobson, and Peter Cousens
It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas Disney sing-a-long version
Angels We Have Heard on High sung by Sixpence None the Richer (featuring this artist twice but this animation is too cute to pass up)
The Twelve Days of Christmas sung by great a capella group Straight No Chaser (I also posted this last year around the same time)
O Come, All Ye Faithful sung by Celtic Woman
Joy to the World sung by Third Day
I'll Be Home for Christmas (always so sad) sung by The Carpenters
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas sung by Frank Sinatra
Hark the Herald Angels Sing sung by St. Paul's Cathedral Choir
Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer by Elmo and Patsy (had to include this one)
The Wassail Song (for all my madrigal readers)
Plus two "new" ones that I only recently heard: Come Thou Long Expected Jesus sung by Journey Worship
Sara Groves' A Cradle in Bethlehem
In case you want a more techy version, check out Christmas iBand (tunes played all on iPads and iPhones/iTouches). Not posting video here because I don't think auto tune goes well with classics (or, well, with anything), but click link if interested. [Found through AH~]

----- Wanted to feature the work of amazing Paris-based professional freelance sports photographer Ryu Voelkel and his Flickr site. He's shot some of my favorite photos from this summer's World Cup. (Click links for Voelkel's Flickr page.) Like this one, after Germany's fourth goal against England by Thomas Muller with a beautiful assist by Ozil. And these two photos of my favorite current players, Mesut Ozil and Bastian Schweinsteiger, tearing it up during the Germany vs Argentina game (4-0). Before you think this is another one of my futbol ravings (and who could blame you), never fear. Voelkel also does some amazing photojournalism and non-futbol sports photos. A little Jake Gyllenhaal to start your week. Source Code, which drops April 15th in the US, also stars Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga, Jeffrey Wright. Synopsis from Just Jared: Colter Stevens (Gyllenhaal) wakes up in the body of an unknown man and discovers he’s part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train. He learns he’s part of a government experiment called the “Source Code,” a program that enables him to cross over into another man’s identity in the last 8 minutes of his life. With another target threatening to kill millions, Colter re-lives the incident until he can find out who the suspect is and prevent the next attack.
Also some vintage Brad Pitt in a 1991 Levi's commercial. Ridiculous and great at the same time.
