It's sometimes a shame that our bodies revolve around one setting. Whenever change occurs we gradually become acclimated to it until we no longer recognize the previous state. Bodies which have gotten used to the tropical heat and can't manage below-freezing winters; feet that are accustomed to ballet flats and no longer familiar with heels; tongues that are reprogrammed to speak a native tongue and losing the ability to grapple with English.
Every time you go somewhere new, you have to reset.
Who knew the MTR (subway) had its own online shop? Check out MTR-themed tape dispensers, memo holders, and staplers. I Like Characters- great site for character inspiration. I really like Hyein Lee's little guys. The site also introduced me to Chaffy. The authors of Find Chaffy are hoping that kindhearted strangers will pass him along so that he makes it around the world. He reminds me of a coconut-sprinkled marshmallow. Fun! Last but not least, happy birthday to a special someone! Gyros pizza is in order!
I was walking around with a small bouquet of flowers today, and it's amazing how much attention I attracted. Male and females alike. It wasn't even a vastly impressive bouquet, but in a world of black and gray colored suits (it's summer, could we get some tan jackets, please?) the hues simply popped. This leads me to conclude that 1) we need more color in our lives and 2) people should give each other flowers more often. This totally made me laugh. Crasher Squirrel OWND! [Source: davideskimo] Relient K's next LP Forget and Not Slow Down comes out in October and the title track was recently released. Scope it out. M~ tuned me into the fabulous voice of Boh Runga - a half Chinese half Maori New Zealand songstress. You may recognize her from the soundtrack to Air New Zealand's "flying" ad campaign.
Check out her vocals on Evelyn or more on her MySpace.

Comes out next summer.
Today I wore a shirt I bought when I was in high school. Catching myself in the mirror was surreal. It felt like I was looking at my 15 year old self except, of course, my face had moved on. It made me feel old. How this skin has aged and what wonders it has experienced since I last donned this shirt.
The third season of Mad Men (1960's based show on advertising greats) opened recently, and this weekend I decided to bite the bullet and sat down to watch the pilot ep. I am a little bit late, as the series opened in 2007; but, although I checked for eps online previously, I never had enough energy to start pursuing a new show. I watched the first episode and, finding myself not entirely hooked, gave myself two more max. The show is decent and fairly engaging, but I can't shake the fact that it's filled with some of the stuff that I hate: sexism, racism, and smoking, among others. These are not only embraced but paraded around constantly. I guess that's the 60s for you. Did I mention that it seems like all or at least one of the characters is smoking up a storm in every single scene?
There is no denying that the set and wardrobe are fantastic (Joan's sass and dress sense made it easy for me to make her a favorite) and the writing is well done. Added points for the cameos on legendary ad campaigns, such as DDB's VW Lemon print. Perhaps it takes a few more episodes to catch the full brillance of the show. All the ad kids seem to love it, so I would love input from those Mad Men diehard fans out there. One of the things that intrigues me is how Don Draper (the main character) seems to pull out fully fleshed, brilliant campaign ideas from thin air while under immense pressure. Brainstorming and creativity have never worked that way for me. But if advertising genius is supposed to be like that, I'll have whatever Draper is having please (minus the womanizing). Charlie McDonnell (charlieissocoollike) provides a brilliant "homage" to acne. Plus points for rockin out on the ukulele.
Currently listening to: C.S. LewisSong - Brooke Fraser (I am a big fan and this is an incredible song), The Gardener - The Tallest Man on Earth, and Feel This - Bethany Joy Galeotti (Haley on the show One Tree Hill) ft. Enation
