Products for Men

Feel oncoming sickness, so I'll be out of commission for this post.

In the meantime, check out Heineken's Walk-in Fridge follow up - Men with Talent (a la Britain's Got Talent). Not as good as the first (I could see myself happy over a walk in closet, but not so much over the next episode of American Idol or Dancing with the Stars) but still fun. [Found through SN~]

Or watch an 11 year old redo the Old Spice commercial. I feel slightly weird that an 11 year old is saying this but the props are excellent. [Found through CD~]

Dreaming Chocolate Cake

Lots of rain today put an end to the nice sunny streak we were having recently.

You may remember the little boy surfing in the bedroom photo, and I finally found the rest of the set through mememolly > designaside. Check out photographer Tim MacPherson's nice series (with a bonus one of a boy eating chocolate cake cuz that's what I wish I was doing right now).

YT updated its video box look.

Yay! I saw this Standard Chartered TVC run last week but couldn't find it on the interwebz. Thanks to JD~'s tip, here it is! Fun typography art direction. It's good to see banks stepping out and doing good engaging work. Here for Good

Been feeling a bit meh for awhile so my blogging is sorta off.

Fast Moving

A couple days ago, I was thrilled to see that BuzzFeed has its own section dedicated to turtles, TurtleFeed.
Tiny turtle! [Source: TurtleFeed >> We fell down so many times]

They should have one of these in Hong Kong, but instead of tourists it should be people who talk on their cell phones/play PSP/strollers in that other lane. Who is faster - Hong Kongers or New Yorkers? Prob the latter cuz HKers are too distracted. [Source: mememolly]

Itty Bitty Living Space

A little shout out to the home city today.

A rant about current HK men's hairstyles and FB profile pics. Made me laugh, but it may be a little slow for non-Cantonese speakers because there is unfortunately no English (I watched the vid without sound to see if you could get his gist with only visuals). F4 shoutout! [Found through BC~]

World's Greenest Homes does a small segment (please ignore the cued kitschy music and horrible font - Bradley Hand, really? -in the beginning) on Hong Kong architect Gary Chang. Killer design that's also environmentally friendly. Moving walls make this 330 sq ft space a sweet bachelor/bachelorette pad. Brilliant. [Found through JP~ > Doobybrain]

With the mess of repercussions following the Southpark Muhammad controversy, it's kind of sad to see everything become so dehumanized (on both sides). Found this spoken word piece, For the Love by Boonaa Mohammed, through a post. Although I don't share the same beliefs, I still found this quite beautiful at parts. It certainly made me learn something. Listen.

Syrupy Serenade

Gorgeous weather today in Hong Kong. I hope you all had sun where you are in the world!

Yeo's grass jelly drink goodness. Sweet, syrupy, and a staple drink from high school. There are little jelly bits. Don't be scared off by the dark color. It might not be for everyone but I think it's really yummy. Makes me miss TC~, HW~, and PY~.

I had to buy new socks today, and the label even includes ingredients! 80% cotton and 20% spandex. Nice!

Send your friends a sweet sweet song through the Serenading Unicorn. Juicy Fruit's newest. [Found through TK~]

Lovely art direction for YMCA spot Questions by TBWA\Vancouver.

Reposting Glee's Like a Prayer, but this time with the mv, cuz I've been listening to the track on repeat the whole day. Kurt (0:52) = amazing. Vid is inverted to avoid copyright. Skip this if you hate the show. Feel free to dance if you love it.

What I'm Watching

Happy Earth Day, everyone!

"Most harm that comes to the Earth comes from ignorance." - From Adam Werbach's Birth of Blue speech

The sky was gorgeous tonight at dusk.

Been enjoying some new music. Yay!

Glee's Madonna episode (that aired yesterday) left us with this gem. Brings back memories of C~. Like a Prayer is a personal favorite.

WongFu Productions pumps out another great mv. Lovely cinematography and look. The girl is stunning! Small language warning.
When We Say (Juicebox) by AJ Rafael.

The XX's new mv for Islands.

Lin Yu Chun (who rocked Whitney's I Will Always Love You) and William Shatner cover Total Eclipse of the Heart on Lopez Tonight.

Giant Amazonian river turtles laying their eggs. The largest freshwater turtles. Those are big little guys! Great shot of their heads above water at the beginning.

Saying goodbye to LOST. This made me sad. The end is near, and you guys will no longer have to put up with my posts about the show (also a sad thing).

Was having a bad case of hiccups last night and found Adam Bjerk's remedy on Get Rid of Things - Massage the upper, back part of the roof of your mouth. And it actually worked. Usually I have to hold my breath and gulp down a gallon of water with 70% success rate. I almost want hiccups again to see if it was a fluke or really works.

Snacks and Superheroes

Snacking otters, FTW!

While at Java Holloway's first birthday party, Jorge Garcia (Hurley) learned (from a LOST crew member) how to properly eat a cupcake. Frosting sandwich! Good even for those who like their sweet icing at a minimum like me. [Source: Dispatches from the Island]

Creepy or girl power? Popular male superheroes depicted as female, many by Portal Comic on deviantArt. The Teenage Mutant Turtles were too much. Or perhaps a perfect example of female hyper sexualization in comic books/animation. Click through to see the gallery. [Source: BuzzFeed > Swedish Bed]

Nice footage of the Icelandic volcanic eruption. Everyone is worried about flights being grounded in the UK but I haven't heard any coverage on air quality for the poor people in Iceland. I know it must be horrible. [Source: Like Cool]

Yay tram!

Finally (finally) got to see How to Train Your Dragon recently. I'm probably the last person to watch it, so I won't put up a review. Toothless is indeed adorable. I loved it, and it was excellent in 3D (and you guys know how I feel about 3D). Take note, you movies shot in 2D and remastered into 3D (Alice in Wonderland, Clash of the Titans).
