My parents are forcing me to skip classes. This goes totally against my "good girl" ethics. :)
Isn't it strange how certain songs carry a specific memory that you remember every time you hear them? This I Promise You (N'sync) reminds me of a bus ride, How To Save(The Fray) reminds me of a friend and last summer, Soak Up the Sun (Sheryl Crow) reminds me of Senior Trip, and Like A Prayer (Madonna) reminds me of C~ (of course). Association is a weird thing.

I really love the style and lighting of photographer Michael Thompson. I posted some of his images from W magazine back in December. So I was especially excited to discover, while perusing through his site, that he is the author of many of my favorite images.
(Ashlee Simpson (she looks more like Anne Hathaway in this pic))
(Julia Roberts)
(Sarah Jessica Parker's Lovely Perfume ad (I've liked this since when I was researching for comps!))
(I love love love this photo of Orlando Bloom. The lighting is just fabulous.)
Now, let's check out some commercials.
This Skoda ad took a crew of eight people a week to make. Everything is real. Made by Fallon (who is also responsible for the Citibank identify theft, Sony Bravia, and Starbucks Glen ads).
Still don't find this branding exactly on par but it's still fun to watch.
Watch all three consecutively.
Ford's Ka ad
Because I have a beer client again...
Needs no explanation. Pure genius.
Caught strains of MercyMe and Chris Rice on secular radio recently. Also check out this pic of Matthew McConaughey reading Strobel's Case for Christ. Very cool.

(Monday post) Made rice pudding today. It was super sweet even though I put less than what the recipe called for. I have all these commercials I want to post but right now I am TIRED. So...off to bed with ye.
Something I have learned today. I think God loves surprises.

Although in two hours it will be daylight, this post is for Sunday. Time stamp informs me that it is late and that is indeed the truth. Just got home from doing crowd control/helping the police/ministering/acts of service from 8pm-4am. There were so many obstacles that tried to stop me from going. I don't think I would've made it without A~'s accountability (thank you!). God definitely provided.
Some notes from the evening: - Was definitely in the minority. I think I counted 10 Asians (including myself). Everyone (everyone) on the streets was African American. I think even the Caucasians felt the minority effect. - Got to know my pastor a lot more, as well as some YWAM folks. - Learned about city dynamics and economics. - Was asked if I was Korean, then Japanese, then Chinese, and then American (in that order). Same dude then gave me his card and said he'd make me very happy. I politely declined. - The stars and moon were gorgeous out. - Got to know the police force and the inside of the police precinct. - Ate lots of junk food. - Zoe wanted food and then play time as soon as I walked into the door...even though it was 4 AM.
Made coffeecake today. Turned out quite well. You would think that the added sugar and staying put working on homework the whole day thing would leave me more energized but I am pooped.
Some cool photos from Time Magazine's Pictures of the Week.

Ocean's 13 is fast approaching, so I thought I would post a pic of the boys. Woot. And because I'm already going through LOST withdrawal...Josh Holloway is the new face of Davidoff Cool Water. Did you know that Saks Fifth Avenue's new shoe department will get it's new zip code (10022). I smell a marketing ploy here. How is that possible? Read about it here.
C~ peeps, good luck with your last week of classes! Time flies, doesn't it?

Saatchi & Saatchi (one of the best worldwide agencies) was recently fired for this Dr. Martens ad campaign featuring Kurt Cobain on the grounds of being disrespectful. I find the whole thing very bizarre.
Check out this ad for Havaianas.
And this crazy (and apparently wildly successful) one for Quiksilver.
As promised, here is the Banana Republic campaign. It totally doesn't look like it's 7:30 in the morning. :)

Memorial Day weekend is upon us and already it's packed here. Psh...tourists. Heh heh. :) Photo critique went well today. :) Thought I would finally post one of my male model photos. (Will post Banana Republic photos tomorrow.)Just a really simple shoot using red, yellow, and blue.
Speaking of color, yellow/gold is the hot new trend at the Cannes Film Festival, which I totally approve of.
(Angelina Jolie, Jessica Simpson, Kimora Lee, Helen Mirren)(Sharon Stone, Eva Mendes, Rosario Dawson)
Check out Jill Greenberg's work. She is the one who did the cover art for Gwen Stefani's latest album, The Sweet Escape, and P.O.D.'s Alive album. She is famous for manipulating her photograph to get a shiny, surreal look. You may know her from her controversial End Times series, which features crying children (ah!). Jill would offer the children candy and then take it away to achieve the effect.
(Wednesday post) LOST season finale was tonight! Wow, what an interesting episode. Also a pretty sad one. It will be a couple months before Season 4 so it's a long long wait.
So...leaving it off with a little bit of LOST trivia. The character who plays Naomi is also in Las Vegas (no wonder she looks so familiar!). The real-life wife of Ben (Michael Emerson), Carrie Preston, appeared in The Man Behind the Curtain episode (the one about Jacob) as, I believe, his mother. Peruvian-Scottish Henry Ian Cusick, who plays Desmond, also played Jesus in the Gospel of John.Check out this great Canadian radio and tv (actually, it seems like they do everything) ad company, Pirate. Listen to some of their radio (one of the toughest advertising arenas) spots because they have a few great ones. I just discovered that New Zealand's Brooke Fraser (of Hillsong) has albums out. She has an amazing voice. Check out her song Shadowfeet below.
Speaking of which, Hillsong United will be playing in Minnesota (next Tuesday, I believe), so check it out if you're in the area. I know a bunch of C~ peeps are heading over to the concert.
I missed Utah-based wedding photographer and model Kate Benson's exhibit but I thought I'd put up two of her photos.

We heard back about a European ad award that we entered last quarter...and our campaign is in the book! Woot! It's not a first or second place award, but few people get to be published so my partner and I are super psyched! Totally pleasant surprise. :)
All of NYC's cabs are going hybrid (to be completed in 2012). Amazing! I love how everyone is doing their part.
Today has been amazingly long. God totally helped me get everything done though. When I said I was overwhelmed last night it was an understatement. Now I am going to go and sleep!

Sigh, well I really shouldn't be posting because I have an overwhelming amount of work due tomorrow...but such is the addiction/faithfulness to blogging.
Photoshoot went pretty well this morning. Just a simple shoot. I was exhausted afterwards though. I have decided that guys are much more difficult to shoot. They sweat too much and need more direction. Heh heh...no, that's not true. I think I just prefer working with females because shopping for the clothes is more fun. It's tough being the creative, photographer, clothes stylist, hair stylist, makeup artist, and set designer all at the same time.
Went and returned all the clothes after the shoot. We have to buy them ourselves and then return them. I know you guys might think that's weird or whatever...but really, I'm not going to keep the clothes. The model won't keep the clothes. S/he wears it for 15 minutes and then changes to another outfit. If it makes it easier, it's like trying on the clothes in a changing room. Maybe if you become a big shot photographer it doesn't matter anymore. But actually I know professionals do the same thing. What would you do with all of those clothes? And imagine the costs every time you do a shoot just on clothes.
I promise I do non-photo related things. :) Such as...today an alumni came to speak. He is working with Kaspen and just got a job at TBWA (the people who are responsible for the Absolut Vodka campaign). Here's one of the campaigns he did for a bookstore: He told us that the octopus is really made of paper (although in separate parts). So cool. I've seen the campaign before and it was nice to put a face to the ad.

It's late but all I want to do is make cookies. I am waiting for the butter to soften atm.
It has been raining here like crazy! Even soccer was canceled today because the field was flooded. I feel like they don't have very good drainage systems here.
I got hit on by a teenager today. I think he must've been in high school. I told him, "Please, how old are you?" Hope that wasn't too ego damaging. But seriously. I could be his mom. Okay, maybe not that extreme, but let's just say that I'm seasoned in years.
I also found out what a big difference there is in cost between GAP and Banana Republic (even though they are owned by the same people). I bought 5 outfits at each and the latter cost $1000 while the former was half the price. Yikes.
Wanted to put up these logo designs. I like the first one.Male model photos are forthcoming. ;)
(Post for Saturday) I have a stop motion/animation assignment coming up so I thought I would post some cool ones I found on YouTube.
And a new Guinness ad along the same vein.
Made upside down banana cake today. It is...interesting. It turned out pretty well but I think it's just an odd concept...the whole upside down-ness of it. I actually think it works better with the pineapples.
As promised, here are some of the photos I took last week with my two female models. The first concept was white, blue, and gray spring dresses. The second one is just an ad campaign for Anthropologie. Heh heh, doesn't this last top (which I love, btw) look a lot like this one on Orlando Bloom? Ask me if you want to know where to get the clothes. Hope you enjoyed the show-and-tell session. :)

What a packed day. Photo shoot this morning (7 AM!) went pretty well. My poor model was subjected to long sleeved wear cuz I was going for casual east coast by-the-sea (sorry yuyu, no just-jeans-and-only-jeans look :) )....which definitely works, except it's quite a bit warmer here. Gorgeous light though and no rain thankfully.
Spent the rest of the day with my faithful friend, Photoshop. Editing is tough work!
Just got back from Shrek the Third, so this post counts as Friday. It was good and I totally recommend it.
Did you know that a female flea can jump around 33 inches. Creepy!
Pictures are coming shortly. Sorry for the wait! And thanks for the concerned inquiries. You guys are the best. At least you don't find me "good girl" and boring like everyone here does.
Linkin Park's new album came out today. I may wait a little bit on this one. I was a bit disappointed. It especially irks me that they came out with clean and explicit versions. LP never used to swear (and many people thought that was one of their best aspects)! Booo...
Try this crazy quiz, appropriately entitled the Impossible Quiz. You can spend hours on it, so you've been warned.
Today I feel sick of many things. Sick of advertising, sick of being the "good girl", sick of always being the listener, sick of feeling like a schmuck, sick of trying so hard but ending nowhere...
Thank goodness God plants little seeds of love throughout the day...like my amazing partner or Zoe's little visits. "This could be something beautiful, I know."
I learned the hard way today about not cooking steak for too long.
J.Chiang is here! Actually, about 45 min by car. Cept neither of us have a car so we can't see each other. So close but so far. At least we're in the same state. Oh well, we'll all just have to rendezvous at Langham sometime soon.
Check out photographer Yu Tsai's site. He's responsible for the current Guess campaign and has done plenty of work for Harper's Bazaar and Flaunt magazines. Here's some of his work: Gearing up for another shoot. If anyone knows good tips on dressing guys, I'd love to hear them.

We won in soccer today! First time in ages. The opposing team's offense is too strong. It was a nice feeling.
A true testament as to how YouTube is the marketer's friend rather than enemy (take note record labels), check out the famous Ford Model Agency's account. They have some cute makeup and fashion advice.
And if you haven't seen Lil Mama's Lip Gloss video, you're missing out.
Spent the morning taking more photos for my perfume/cologne. I think I am getting too perfectionist about it. I'm going to just throw some copy on it and then see how it looks.
Made zucchini bread today. Oh my goodness, I haven't had that since I was young really. It turned out pretty well. I like sweet breads. :)
Been meaning to post this for awhile, but I didn't realize the coolness of the FedEx logo until recently.Who knew there is an arrow hidden between the E and the x? So cool. Truly moving forward.

If I am not mistaken, C~ kids just had room draw. Wow...I remember how stressful that used to be.
Critique of the pics went well! Yay! I still have to do some editing on them so I won't post any final just yet. I might have to do another shoot sometime soon but at least I have that part completed. I am taking S~'s suggestion (thanks!) seriously and making the sunglasses a trademark. Here are my two fabulous models from this week.Played Wii tennis, bowling, and boxing today. Pretty intense workout. It was needed after eating a bunch of yummy Thai curry.

Ah! I hate when I don't post before midnight. Post for Wednesday.
Photoshoot went well! Thanks for the well wishes. It was a major stress though and I think God really blessed me in many ways. My model was wonderful (and really easy going even though she's a professional). We had a lot of fun, which is the most important. Critique is tomorrow, so fingers crossed.
Just had to post this ad again. I love it so much for multiple reasons.
So funny story today...I went in for an film editing interview today all hopeful. The job had good benefits and was something that I would enjoy doing. Turns out that it was definitely editing and they were definitely interested in hiring me...cept the editing was for adult content, or, shall we say, porn. Major bummer, huh? The place was really nice though and the people were great. Not sketchy at all. So all in all, I guess I left with a slightly better impression of the porn industry (????). Pretty great story though. :)

The only reason why I am still awake atm is by God's grace (I'm totally serious about this). I am one majorly pooped person.
Today was full of running around getting props in prep for tomorrow. Oh my goodness. I bought a goldfish today (she's going back to the store tomorrow because I can't keep her with a cat around), calla lillies (so pretty!), cupcakes, strawberries, three pairs of shoes, and another dress. Will let you know how it goes tomorrow night. I'm really nervous.
Before I end this and get back to work, I just HAD to post this. SOOOOOO great. Bro, you're probably one of the only ones who will be able to truly appreciate this. But I love it! I should totally get one. [Source]
I really shouldn't be posting as I have a ton of work to do, but you know how it is about procrastination.
Photo shoot today went fairly well. I think I still need to work on my lighting techniques. My model was relatively inexperienced, which meant that I had to direct her. It just reinforces why I am behind the lens rather than in front of it. Poses are not my specialty! She has a great look though and we got some nice shots. Will post those later.
LOST has set an end date...2010. Which means three more seasons. I thought they were only doing four seasons total. But I'm not the one to complain. Woot, bring it on! Producers have also said that there is no chance of spinoffs or sequels.
Speaking of LOST, check out these gorgeous pictures of Yunjin Kim. Now that I've been studying editorials for so long, I just look at these photos and think about how much set up it took to get the clothing and props. Ah! (More photos [Source]) A dude (sorry, I've forgotten his name already) came to talk to us about advertising in video games. Pretty interesting actually, since I know so little about games. The speaker was actually an animator for Spongebob Square Pants, etc before switching over to video games. The future of video games will be that they come completely through internet.
He also spoke about the uncanny valley theory. The more realistic and human like animated objects/robots are, the more we like them...up to a certain point. There comes a peak where the fictional character looks real but does not act/move real (due to technology limitations) and so we dislike them. This is thought to be because we are "taught" that these unnatural movements are like those of someone ill or a corpse (creepy!). Wikipedia has a great definition of it. It sites the example of the Polar Express and the Incredibles, which came out at the same time. Audiences disliked the look of the former. And with the Alias video game, the Sydney character looks just like Jennifer Garner. But once she starts moving, the player hates her cuz she doesn't move like a real person. As a result, video game creators will purposely make the main character look less realistic (although they have the capability to) because he's the hero (and you want to like him). He will never move as streamlined as a human and thus looking like one would be creepy. Wooo...long explanation. Read the Wikipedia article.

Oops. Forgot to post before midnight. This is for Sunday...and is incidentally my 100th post!
It stormed like crazy tonight. It's so peaceful sitting warm and safe inside and hearing the rain come down. Soccer today was pretty intense. I think everyone is really improving. It was fun watching the guys play too. They have killer footwork!
Senior Art Show is coming up. I totally stole this photo of the poster, but here it is. What a great show name. I wish I could see the stuff. Oh comps...has it really been a year?Tomorrow is a big day. I'll let you know if I survive it tomorrow night.

Did you know that: - Tobey Maguire is a vegetarian - Kirsten Dunst started shooting commercials at the age of three and was a Ford model - James Franco auditioned for the part of Spiderman - Rosemary Harris (Aunt May)'s daughter is Jennifer Ehle (who played Elizabeth Bennett in the 1995 Pride and Prejudice) - Bryce Dallas Howard is the daughter of director Ron Howard - Elizabeth Banks (Miss Brant, the secretary) was originally named Elizabeth Mitchell but changed it to differentiate herself from another actress who was more established with the same name...the actress Elizabeth Mitchell incidentally plays Juliet on LOST - Topher Grace left That 70's Show in order to play the part of Brock/Venom - the guy who plays SandMan (Thomas Haden Church) is the guy from Sideways Heh heh, I love me some IMDB.
The movie was pretty good. No Spiderman movie is complete without you, T.Chan (when I look into your eyes...)...but it was surprisingly less corny than the previous two. I'm up for seeing it again if anyone wants to come with me. :)

Finally (finally) got my yearbook today. I've been hounding them for months! I feel like they should give all seniors one automatically but that isn't the case. I think they only gave it to me cuz I had a part in it.
The Creative Director who has the Geico account (at Martin Agency) came to speak today. It was cool to hear the strategy behind it. It's always inspiring to listen to the people who have made it in the business. Here is my favorite of the cavemen series. (Apparently Maxim will be coming out with a feature on them (and I think golf clothing) soon.)
Also, check out the website. It's the Caveman's Crib. Pretty sweet interactive site. To those faithful Gilmore Girls fans, I am sad to say that the show has finally been canceled after seven seasons.
Also, speaking of CW, I found out that a film noir episode of Smallville aired on Thursday. I used to be a big fan of the show and it's nice that they are still going strong. Love the homage!
