Short post because today was crazy with classes and interviews. Sorta a not so great day (due to incidents in class) but I have survived.
Woke up to find my left eye all swollen (great for interviews!). I don't know what's wrong. It's been aching lately.
Starting to shoot the whisky ad. We're using fake ice (which is supposedly really expensive). So cool. One type is made out of acrylic so it's all rubbery feeling.

If you are a fan of OK Go's Here It Goes Again (aka treadmill dancing) video, check out these guys at a high school talent show.
Spent the day working on an illustrator image. It's a work in progress, but here it is so far. A cute pic I found of John Krasinksi and Angela Kinsey at a SAG afterparty. Congratulations again to The Office. (Source) This vid has been out on YouTube for ages, but I have always avoided watching it. It is pretty sweet though. Check it out.
Hi gang. I hope all of you had a marvelous Sunday! I have heard that it is quite chilly in certain parts of the country. Please keep warm and drink hot chocolate (or tea for a certain non-chocolate eater who I love).
Today was the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards. Actors awarding other actors. America Ferrera of Ugly Betty (who I've appreciated since watching Real Women Have Curves a couple years ago), Chandra Wilson of Grey's Anatomy, the cast of Little Miss Sunshine, and cast of The Office and Grey's Anatomy all picked up an award. Woot! In terms of fashion (you guys so knew I would go into it), this year's awards were very metallic and beige/nude color based overall. Here are some of my favorites.
(Rebecca Gayheart, America Ferrera, Katherine Heigl, Teri Hatcher)
(Brenda Strong, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Reese Witherspoon, Andrea Bowen)
(Sara Ramirez, Jamie Lynn-Sigler, Becki Newton)
(SAG awards pics are from this Yahoo! site (check out for more))
I also found this great site with t-shirt logos. I recommend perusing through it. Some of it is a bit inappropriate (would you really want to wear a shirt that says that?!?) but some of them are pretty great. A small sampling:
Here's an ad that we were looking at yesterday that you might have seen before (I love Ogilvy & Mather (the agency)). So excited for the SuperBowl!
Played soccer with classmates today for an hour and half. Now I am pooped. A new week here we come!
Currently listening to: Landing In London- Three Doors Down (who I normally do not like, but this is an exception)
If you went to the Yahoo page today, you probably saw these great Disney-themed pictures/ads by famous photog Annie Leibovitz featuring Beyonce, Scarlett Johansson, and David Beckham.
No post yesterday because internet was down in the area.
Today said goodbye to my housie's two aunties. The place is strangely quiet now. It was a bit sad to see them go.
Been working on a new logo for the NRDC (Natural Resource Defense Council). It's for class but I think eventually we will be entering them into a competition. I ended up basing mine around a jellyfish. Check out this costume picture I found online. Michael Grecco came to talk to us today. He's a famous photography (lots of photojournalism, celebrity photography under his belt). It was pretty cool to hear him talk about lighting (geez, I sound like a geek). I would put up some of his work but I think I'd breach copyrights or something. So check out his website (I esp love the one of Owen Wilson and Ben Stiller).
Also, came home and found out my phone had arrived. Woot! Can't wait to actually speak to you guys.
Found out about this group named JC's Girls. It was started by a former-stripper/dancer who found Christ and is now evangelizing to porn stars and strippers. Pretty amazing! Anyways, I checked out their site and they have these great tees. I think they're so cool.

A little too tired to post in depth. Today was a long day in terms of classes but really cool in terms of learning. Went to a fancy place where all the pro photographers rent their equipment. There was a camera that was 39 megapixels (!). It puts mine to shame.
Here are some pics of the class touring the sweeeet studio shooting space. Also got to have some good conversations with my partner (we sat outside Starbucks (from which I also added to my bottle collection) and observed people for brainstorming concepts) and one of my classmates (who turns out to be a PK and amazing at art).
I'm sleepy so I'm cutting this short, but, first...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRO!

I finally went and got a phone today! It is coming soon so I will let you guys know the number when it does.
Today was pretty uneventful. Grocery shopping (I got animal crackers! Operation Wild Love memories!), guest speaker. I was going to go and post a picture of my newly bought baby Canadian Club whisky (I need two bottles for the shoot) but I figured you guys are sick of my alcoholic rants.
The guest speaker today was from Deutsch, L.A. (a top agency). Here is one of the spots he helped produce.
Did you know that if you go to type "got" but shift/misplace your hand one to the left, you type "for"? Okay, never mind.

A man fell seventeen stories out of the Hyatt in Minneapolis (woot!). He crashed through the floor to ceiling windows and is critically injured but alive. Wow.
For you science peeps, check out this article on the 'altruistic' part of the brain (where scientists say you can predict if you are going to be selfish or altruistic).
Little Miss Sunshine has recently been named best picture by the Producers Guild of America. 11 out of 17 films that have been given this honor in the past have gone on to also receive the Oscar for Best Picture. That means the movie has a big chance at the upcoming Academy Awards. Also Spiderman 3's official site has been updated with more goodies. Week 3 of classes here I come! Went and played soccer again. And my housie's aunties cooked. I even tried their squid (stuffed with pork). You guys would be proud of me.
And last, but not least.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY EMER!

I have forgotten how to ride one. Isn't that supposed to be impossible? I got on one today and almost slammed into a parked car. Two guys passing by laughed at me but ended up helping me adjust it (the seat was too high). It just seems so dangerous biking here.
I got my whisky glass! Took me a whole week to scout one out. Another prop for my liquor ad (which is also why I need the leather gloves). :)
Check out these ads:

Got some good down time and watched the latest ep of Grey's Anatomy (Six Days (Pt.2)). Some really wonderful writing. Made me tear up.
(screencaps from ep. go online to link above to watch the whole thing!)
Also, look who's set to come back.

This is the first day that I have wondered if I should even be here.
Watched the most recent version of Pride and Prejudice. Have never been a big fan of the book even though I know it's a favorite for some of you. :) But I was pretty impressed by the music and the really interesting cinematography at some points. A pleasant surprise. Or perhaps I'm a romantic at heart. :)
(Keira really does look lovely as well.)

Argh! I hate it when I forget to post before midnight. This is Thurday's official post.
Today I learned that apparently our eyes (or brain, I guess) stop reading words at a certain age. Instead, we just recognize the shapes of the words. That is why it is so hard to read a paragraph in all caps because we have to actually stop and read. I have no idea if this is true. I might be just rambling. You psych major peeps will know more, I'm positive. :)
I don't like how the weeks are starting to zip past. Currently trying to order leather gloves online.
Sorry today is a light post. Check out these new promo pics from Smallville. Impressed that the show is still going strong.

Do you ever have one of those days where you are bored and you end up Googling your name (or Googling Google, like on the Office)? Well today was one of them for me. I've done it before. No biggie. But this time my search came up with someone else with my name. Perhaps not the same Chinese characters, but certainly the same English pinyin/translation. That has never happened before. Turns out it links to a kindergarten. Oh the irony.
Was reading this cool stuff about how weather has changed the course of history. For example, after bombing Hiroshima, the U.S. was going to bomb the town/city of Kokura. However it was too cloudy in that area to drop a nuclear warhead so they went for their backup target, Nagasaki. Checkout other interesting facts like this one here.
Here are some works by artist Marcel Wanders. The first one is apparently based on airborne "snotty" that was then digitized and scanned. The second is beautiful lace work art (click image for enlargement).
Rediscovered this old photograph of C~. Can you tell I'm missing my college years? :) I remember thinking that this was a pool (instead of a reflection) before I started school there.

It looks like I will be using an old picture of snowy Northfield as a backdrop for my liquor ad. Yay for snow. Yay for Northfield. :)
As promised, here are my favorites from last night's Golden Globes. (If you're not into this sort of thing, apologies because it might be a boring post for you.)
(Drew Barrymore, Evangeline Lilly (was undecided on her dress but she looks beautiful))
(Eva Longoria (in Ungaro), America Ferrera (Ugly Betty), Ali Larter (Heroes))
My housie's aunts are over to visit and they cooked, so my tummy is full of yummy.
Lost creators will be publicly announcing the date for the finale of the show. Sad. Check out the article here.
I would be scared to death, but this lady freely accepts a hug from an African lion that she rescued from abuse. Check out this beautiful pictures of new stars (the blue ones) taken by NASA. The Golden Globes are tonight. I cannot watch because I have homework (sad). This year's trend seems to be white. Lots of white gowns. Also deep blues and purple. Seems like there was a good representation of the Lost cast, including Naveen Andrews (Sayid), Josh Holloway (Sawyer), Yunjin Kim (Sun), Jorge Garcia (Hurley).
(had to post a pic of Josh Holloway since Sawyer is one of my favorite characters)
I'll prob post about my favorites tomorrow. In the meantime, a cute pic of Abigail Breslin and Paul Dano from Little Miss Sunshine. After much debate, I have decided on a bottle. Meet Canadian Club whisky.
After church today I went to my first MAS soccer/football game. Every Sunday everyone gets together and plays at the park in the middle of the city. I stink (I'd much rather watch) but it was sorta nice to run around and meet new people.
The cast of the office got together a few days ago for a SAG photoshoot. They are also up for Best Television Series - Comedy/Musical and Steve Carell gets another nod for Best Actor (TV series) in the Golden Globes that is airing tomorrow (8-11 EST). Check out this great bottle. Glenrothes.
Watched a bit of the New England vs. San Diego (American) football game because my housie is such a NFL fan. Excited for the Super Bowl! Or rather, the ads that accompany the game. :)

Yikes. It just passed midnight, so I guess it is technically Sunday here, but oh well. This first part will be considered the Saturday post.
Pretty nice and restful Saturday. Slept in and then went out to a Cuban restaurant with my housie/roomie. He pointed out a new visitor at the gate to the apartment. Soooo cool! It is a spinybacked orbweaver (spider) apparently. These little guys are common in Florida.
I have left my grocery bags out for Zoe to play in them. Tonight I have to do homework. HOMEWORK. It feels so odd having to go into student mode again.
Check out the cover art for the new Norah Jones album, Not Too Late. I am not a fan of hers (music is slow and not a big jazz person) but the cover is an interesting angle. I do not like her dress.Currently on my desktop wallpaper, a new D&G ad: I am missing C~ and snow. (Picture taken a year ago today.)
