I am Alexis Bledel

Blumarine's Spring/Summer 09 collection. I'm a sucker for that teal.
This is exactly how I feel. The lost, hopeless, running into dead end part, that is. Overqualified and underqualified. Alexis Bledel plays a newly graduated job seeker in Post Grad. Plus the movie stars Rodrigo Santoro (time to redeem yourself from the horrible LOST stint) and Demetri Martin! Bonus points for Show Me What I'm Looking For by Carolina Liar in the trailer. Woot! I hope this turns out to be good instead of cheese. At least I can relate to the beginning. Argh. [Click here if YT's not working.]

Check out this great short zombie love story I am a Zombie Filled with Love by Isaac Marion. Really helps you empathize with them when they're feasting on your brains. [Source: Frank Lieu]
So true.
But seriously guys. Wash hands often! Please be careful.

(post for Wednesday)
This great TVC came up in conversation tonight so I am (re)posting. American Express ad ft. Andy Roddick and Pong.

I'm kinda a sucker for how cute this video is. Big squirrel and "baby" squirrel try to make it over a cement barrier on the UCLA campus. I thought I'd just check it out for a few seconds and ended up watching the whole thing. Great storytelling. Plus it features Bruises by Chairlift!

Some pieces from American photographer Joe Martinez's portfolio.
My friend M~ found out that you can switch your FB language to Pirate. Let me just say that it's pretty amazing. You should try it for yourself. Scroll all the way to the bottom and change language settings!

Good Night's Sleep Then Up and At 'Em!

Getting ready for work in 5 minutes. The tie and the putting on the pants part are amazing! [Source: T~]

Oh xkcd. Thankfully this doesn't happen to me often.
I'm considering switching to Tumblr style. Any thoughts?

Black and White and Colored

Photos from Socialite Life of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (HP7) are out! Part 1 of the final book is set to be released in 2010. Check out the website for more images. Can't wait for July and HP6!
Mat Kearney's Closer to Love single has finally been released as an mv. The new EP, City of Black and White, is out May 19th. Mat will be touring with Keane starting on the 9th. [Source: ICYDK]

Great DIY dress that you can color in by Berber Soepboer and Michiel Schuurman. Reminds me of one of my earliest animal coloring books. I kinda love her fushia and electric blue nylons! [Source: Noquedanblogs]

Face the Music

Just finished Khaled Hosseini's A Thousand Splendid Suns and it was quite marvelous. I've never read his debut book, The Kite Runner, and don't particularly plan to in the near future. From reading the synopsis, I think A Thousand Splendid Suns is much more my cup of tea.

The book, a historical fiction, details the civil unrest in Afghanistan from the 60s up to present day. A novel about injustices towards women, friendship, family, struggle and redemption, under an overarching love story in more ways than one. It was kinda cool because the book touches on some historical events that I remember experiencing too. I am a bit disappointed at the picture-perfect ending and perhaps a scramble to tie up lose ends nicely, but all in all a great book.
This kinda burst my Disney naivety. Granted they're allowed to recycle their own work, but still! The similarities between some old Disney movie sequences is crushing.

New YT interface update. Hmmm...too cluttered, methinks.
So I'm actually super worried about this pig/swine flu outbreak. Please be careful everyone! Wash hands often, stock up on masks and antibacterial gel. Take note of people around you who might have flu like symptoms. Clean hands are happy hands!

I'd Rather Be Reading

Great sequel to the Heineken walk in fridge ad. [Source: Media Bistro]

For the first time in a long while I've become completely wrapped up in a book. A good novel at that. One worth my time. I've missed that feeling of satisfaction that you get curled up with well written prose. The hunger to tear through each page to the end coupled with the longing to savor every word slowly and weigh its meaning.

Peel off skin. Flesh resembles that of the hard persimmon but has a more sour, unripe peach kind of taste. Ginormous seeds for such a small little guy.

Paths

This is the first time I've seen the Gideon version of the Bible in Chinese. Cool!

Kinda silly ad for eBay.

Check out Carousel, a short film for Philips' 21:9 TV by Stink Digital and Tribal DDB. By coincidence this runs for 2:19 and can be played on a loop. Beautifully crafted freeze frame work filmed with one continuous shot, but don't watch if you're finicky about clowns. [Source: Media Bistro]
Cool MTR art piece All Walks of Life by Fung Lik Yan (馮力仁). I had fun moving around between the sculptures and checking out the detail.

Photos and Pork

Happy Earth Day everyone!
Remember to unplug unused phone chargers, flush less, spend less time on webpages with white backgrounds (or use Blackle), and plant some trees!
When I was a kid, the school used to give us baby pines to plant. Yesterday I actually revisited one of those trees and it's flourishing nicely.

Very cool stop motion A Wolf Loves Pork by dokugyunyu, who took 1,300 photos and then shot them again interacting with the space in his apartment. My favorite parts are the elevator/staircase and the sink. Photographs of photographs - adds a whole new dimension to stop motion. [Source: Frank Lieu]
I like these two new pieces from Ken Pao.
