Hand Drawn

Wanted to feature some fashion illustrators today. Check out David Down Ton.
Australian Sarah Hankinson

Cecilia Carlstedt

Gorgeous music video for Bim's Stay in My Memory by UK artist Katy Davis. She made the pop up book and did all the photoshopping herself. This is also a fantastic track.

The Day After

Roommate was telling me today of turducken - deboned turkey stuffed with duck stuffed with chicken. Sounds super decadent but I wish it didn't have such a silly name.
Of course you can step it up a notch with the True Love Roast, which is made up of twelve (the days of Christmas) different types of fowl. Weighs 55 lbs and takes ten hours to cook. [Source: Vulture Droppings]
Great Mac Photo Booth plugin by Dubi Kaufmann that lets you Obama-ify yourself. [Source: Cult of Mac]
More Banksy and his great tongue-in-cheek work. I love Thomas the Tank Engine!
The last one is particularly relevant today on Black Friday. I still have yet to experience that madness, but perhaps one day.

Cup Full

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Big guns (and YT riddled with cooking video tutorials):
Super cool design for a paper water bottle from Brand Image. You guys know how I feel about bottled water, so hopefully this new recyclable and non-plastic alternative will help reduce the appalling amount of waste. The site says that 86% of the 60 million bottles tossed daily end up in the landfills. [Source: Core77]
Keep forgetting to post this, but check out these cool Milk Glass Night Lamps from Muuq. [Source: Toxel]
Please continue to remember Mumbai in your prayers.

I am thankful for so many things this year. God has totally blessed me abundantly and fully. But most of all I am thankful for family and friends. You guys rock my world!

Cornucopia

I'm still stinging from the fact that Harry Potter was pushed back and Twilight was released instead on Friday. Check out Trailer 3 for the new movie.

Ad for BBC News that is especially relevant today. Please pray for the people in Mumbai.
RKCR (Y&R UK), the agency who made the above TVC, has a cute website.
Sampled my roomie's gluten-free blueberry muffins today. Quite yummy.
Cool LOST tees from 108. I really want the weapons one.
As I like to tell you guys, I'm usually not a sucker for those sickeningly cute animals, but this kitten is too adorable. Yes, I feel guilty about subjecting you guys to this.

Give Me Back the Change

The grocery store tried to jip me again yesterday. Not intentionally, I'm sure, but I find I am always overcharged for produce. It's annoying because I have to go back and point out the error, and while it should be them feeling guilty, I always end up looking bad. Yes, I'm one of those people (who check receipts and will ask that the mistake be corrected), but I figure it is my own hard earned money.

Check out new stills from The Curious Case of Benjamin Button at JustJared. I'm so excited for this movie!
For those Brit Brit fans (closet or otherwise), stream her new CD here at In Case You Don't Know.

Investment and Closure

It's crazy how God can open and close doors for us. I found out today that I actually like the sound of another shutting door because it gives me some sort of closure. I don't have to be hanging on waiting to hear if it will slam shut or swing open with a gust of wind.

Not sure if the ad directly correlates with the brand (I kept wanting more from the end copy), but I thought this TVC for Laurentian Bank had cute insight about your inner child. [Source: Advertka]

Fantastic spot for Sky by 1861 United.

YouTube has gone widescreen.

Open

Today was a lovely warm day and I had a great time chilling with M~. On our way home, we realized the Th~ Kids store has finally opened. Finally! It's been half a year pending.

Watched the 24 two hour premiere tonight with J~. Definitely kept me captivated for that length of time and I thought it was pretty good. I don't think I can commit though since I already have LOST, but I will still give it props.

I love what God can teach you in simple conversations and just by sitting down, shutting up, and listening. Keep your ears open, friends!

Dark Hole

For those LOSTies out there, the Season 5 promo, starring The Fray's new single You Found Me, was just released. Check it out here or download it free off iTunes.
Watched part of the YouTube Live concert. It's nice to see YT stars on stage. Seemed like a decent success so good for them, but I probably wouldn't watch the whole thing. Guess that's in the whole vein of YT culture - pop in and see what you want and then high-tail it out. I watched Chad Vader will-it-blend his lunch, Tay Zonday emcee, Charlie the Unicorn spoof the YT Maintenance message.
(William Sledd, Lisa Nova, What the Buck, and Tay Zonday emcee-ing)

Great design for those tea drinkers out there. Especially for those who let their bags steep too long. Tea bag coffin by Jonas Trampedach. Fantastic! [Source: Yanko Design]
Currently listening to: You Found Me - The Fray (I really enjoy the lyrics because it shows that we all go through hard times when we spiritually feel lost)

Revisiting

Spent the day being productive and cooking up a storm. I've really missed doing that. Watched Stick It with A~. Such a fun movie and totally what I needed to end the week.
Check out this killer 1950s packaging. [Source Packagings of the World]
Cool T-Mobile ad by Saatchi and Saatchi from about a year ago.

This lottery TVC by Publicis Seattle made me laugh. Not easy to do advertising for a lottery. This is the same agency that brought you the great T-Mobile overprotective dad ad.

Since we're on the vein of old things, a little tribute to my Karate Kid viewing from last week. Pat Morita in a classic Tang TVC.

The Big Day

(Special extra post)
As of this evening, congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. J~ D~! You guys are the best. Happy day for these two crazy kids. I wish so much I could be there to celebrate with you.
Sidenote: M~ and I just found out our baby rocked out at the recent S~ O~ awards. Woot! Happy dance!

Invent a Story

Silly fun ad for Solo Mobile's cell phone/walkie talkie by Rethink. Check out a second ad from the campaign here.

Screencaps from gorgeous animations by Brazilian design and animation studio Lobo.
Beautiful pieces by Australian photographer Magdalena Bors.
J~ showed me a site that's streaming the new Coldplay cd, Viva la Vida - Prospekt's March, set to be released next Monday. Check it out here on Los 40 or preorder on Amazon.

Unfortunately my tongue hates me at the moment for burning it on hot tea. I needed something to go with my ginger snaps though. Yay for being warm and inside on a cold evening such as this.
