Wanted to feature the work of amazing Paris-based professional freelance sports photographer Ryu Voelkel and his Flickr site. He's shot some of my favorite photos from this summer's World Cup. (Click links for Voelkel's Flickr page.)
Like this one, after Germany's fourth goal against England by Thomas Muller with a beautiful assist by Ozil.

And these two photos of my favorite current players, Mesut Ozil and Bastian Schweinsteiger, tearing it up during the Germany vs Argentina game (4-0).

Before you think this is another one of my futbol ravings (and who could blame you), never fear. Voelkel also does some amazing photojournalism and non-futbol sports photos.

Oh Boy

A little Jake Gyllenhaal to start your week.
Source Code, which drops April 15th in the US, also stars Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga, Jeffrey Wright.
Synopsis from Just Jared:
Colter Stevens (Gyllenhaal) wakes up in the body of an unknown man and discovers he’s part of a mission to find the bomber of a Chicago commuter train. He learns he’s part of a government experiment called the “Source Code,” a program that enables him to cross over into another man’s identity in the last 8 minutes of his life. With another target threatening to kill millions, Colter re-lives the incident until he can find out who the suspect is and prevent the next attack.

Also some vintage Brad Pitt in a 1991 Levi's commercial. Ridiculous and great at the same time.

There's More

This made me laugh, maybe because I like awkward moments. [Source: I am Forgiven >> Australia Potter]

When I'm microwaving I do this too, but mostly because I don't like the beeping noise. [Source: Beautiful Mess >> ZonGO]

Their Will Your Power - The piano soundtrack for this is beautiful. Newest TVC for Beit Issie Shapiro, which aids children and adults with developmental disabilities, by agency Gitam BBDO (Tel Aviv).

Butch Bakery, for "manly men," which apparently means you can't like pink frosting or sprinkles (who hates on sprinkles?!?). Located in New York. A few of their 12 flavors include Mojito, Home Run (peanut butter cake and banana bavarian cream with crumbled bacon), Campout (graham cracker cake with marshmallow filling and milk-chocolate ganache), and Big Papi (cinnamon spice cake with dulce de leche filling). That last one sounds delicious, so I'm not sure if I'm supposed to scoff at or embrace the outrageousness of this website.

Fields, After the Storm
by New Jersey-based landscape photographer Matthew Albanese. What is special about this photo, other than how beautiful it looks, is that the landscape is completely fake. Albanese used faux fur, cotton, and sifted tile grout to make the scenery in a very detailed model. Amazing! See more of his cool work (and behind the scenes) at his website.
