Destroyed

No big post today. Exhausted and I can feel myself getting sick.

Outstanding Drama Winner in My Heart

The Emmys totally snubbed LOST this morning. Robbed.

Cannot be unseen: Ducks have actually been wearing dog (Scottish terrier?) masks all this time. Discovery by Madfishes.

The Wilderness Downtown - Arcade Fire's newest mv for We Used to Wait (from album The Suburbs) is an cool interactive film by Chris Milk that makes use of pop up windows and Google Street Maps. Type in the address of the home you grew up in (although I found that slightly privacy invasive, so I put in something random) and the music video will run using images of the place. Most high tech mv I've seen so far. Try it out! [Found through TL~]
(You may remember the band's equally sweet interactive site for song Neon Bible.)

Found out about Perth (Australia) based art director/photographer/stylist/designer Otilee through Tittle Tattle. Check out some of her lovely fashion photography below.

EpicWin launch and pre-release trailers - combine a RPG with real life day to day tasks. Gain points and level up by finishing your to-do list. Someone will have to tell me if this new iPhone app is any good, but the idea behind it is great. Regardless, the cool graphics are enough for me to post this. [Source: Mouseover]

Egg Goodness

Tried this "fake" egg dessert today. The egg shell is real but instead of egg white, they use coconut pudding, and the egg yolk is actually mango mousse. Served cold. Yum.

Impossible Field
- Old Adidas TVC featuring Michael Ballack (along with Defoe, Kaka, Beckham). Had to show him a little bit of love after news that Loew did not select him for next month's Euro '12 qualifiers. Judging from how the team has grown with the World Cup, perhaps it's better that a change is coming to the captaincy; but I miss watching him play. Saw another Germany 13 jersey wearer today.

Food and a Little Weight Gain

The moon is gorgeous out tonight. It was probably rounder yesterday but I forgot to blog about it. Check it out if you get a chance! We're less than a month away from Mid-Autumn Festival.

I was talking about Cuban food with PY~ this week, and it's really made me want a Cuban sandwich. Make your own with this recipe from blog Babble's The Family Kitchen. Substitute Cuban bread if you can, of course. Nom. [Source: Tastespotting]

In Passing

The bodies of those killed in the Manila hostage situation arrived home to Hong Kong this evening. Heartbreaking to watch a wife lay a wreath on her husband's coffin and her little boy and girl waving goodbye to their dad. One woman lost her two daughters and husband, while her son is still in the hospital after being seriously wounded. Really really sad.

Hong Kong Tragedy and Sanctuary

Really traumatic day for a busload of Hong Kong tourists visiting Manila. The entire story is really sad. Please pray for the victims and their families (including that of the hostage taker). I feel like the entire city - both Hong Kong and Manila - is still reeling from the event.

Hop Inn - Cute Hong Kong hostel (located in TST) that outfits its rooms with design elements. The living space is, of course, tiny, but it seems like the owners make living there at least a little more fun. [Found through SY~]

Close Encounters

Thank you, Lord, for weekends during which we can catch up on much needed rest.

The LOST Complete Collection (as well as Season 6 on its own) will be released next Tuesday (24th), but check out this Squirrel Baby DVD extra. Dial up the creepiness (as well as the crazy affection the cast and crew have for it).

Kids that dress better than me (I've decided to make this an official blurb cuz it's happening more and more often): Cute couple a la 1950s (at least I think that's the time frame, because I don't know my historical fashion well; this reminds me of the drive-in diner look) [Source: Iman >> One for the Mockingbird]
A little late in posting this, but I wanted to include it anyways because it looks so cool. Made in Italy space saving sleek furniture from Resource Furniture. I want to try out all that folding and tucking away stuff! They should collaborate with Hong Kong architect Gary Chang and his tiny apartment. [Found through JI~]

Well Clothed

(post for Wednesday)
Yahoo! is supporting relief efforts for Pakistan. Please continue to keep the flood victims there in your prayers.

Saw a kid today dressed in full on Germany World Cup jersey gear. Complete with matching shorts and the #13. Unfortunately I couldn't get a shot of the front but it looked just like Ballack's (below). (This is the second Mannschaft uniform I've seen this week. How do I get my hands on one?!) Also saw a little boy with a Thomas the Tank Engine shaped bag. Where are all these cool kids (and cool parents who let them buy these things) coming from? [Second photo source: Shop Adidas]

Marisa Lynch of blog New Dress a Day buys undesirable vintage store/flea market clothes and magically turns them into chic wearable pieces. Her goal is to spend a dollar a day for a new piece each day for a year. Brilliant! She even includes her inspirations and in-progress shots. There's a lot of shoulder pad removing and even a special week on bridesmaid dresses. A sewing and fashion ultimate creation project. Made me think of SC~ and PY~. She also said, "this girl is outta her gourd" (referring to herself), and she is a LOST fan, so she gets major points from me. 365 days. 365 items of clothing. 365 dollars.
