Shirts and Tights

Beautiful origami koi by Richi89 on deviantArt made with a small sheet of paper and then painted with acrylics. [Source: Hongkiat]
Hongkiat recently compiled a great list of geeky tees, including the first two below, and I've added a few of my own from Snorg Tees. Is it wrong that I get such a kick out of them?

Check out the crazy tights from The Saturday's mv Up. I don't really like the song, but the stocking colors are fantastic!

Seafaring

JustJared posted the first few stills from Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The movie comes out December 2010. Yay that they are plowing ahead with the Chronicles of Narnia series! Dawn Treader is one of my least favorite books from the set though. The lake that turns everything to gold really creeped me out the first time I read it.

Hairy crabs (大閘蟹) were in season earlier this month. I'm not a big seafood person, and to add insult to injury, these guys are quite small and thus don't have very much meat. However, there's a lot of hype around the crabs because of their amber colored roe, and they can be quite pricey.

If you're wondering why they're called hairy crabs, check out their legs!
Verse I've been enjoying lately - 1 Peter 3:4
(The previous verse talks about not letting your adorning lie in external ornaments.)

"But let your adorning be the hidden person of the heart with the imperishable beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God's sight is very precious."

Imperishable beauty. How awesome is that?

Brushing Up

My annual dentist visit today was a little more encouraging than last year's. Yay!

Even after countless trips to the dentist, I still find it scary whenever s/he sticks something in my mouth. I feel like a kid all over again. Half of me wishes dentists would let us look at each of the tools before using them to poke around.
"Now we're going to use this 3 inch needle to numb the area near your wisdom tooth before we pry it out with force." Okay, never mind.

I found this Apple Pretz today. Pretty packaging but I'm not sure how it tastes. I'd try an apple Pocky though.

JD~ clued me in on this survival guide print by 22 year old British designer and illustrator Olly Moss for A Life Well Wasted. Know your enemy's weak point. Unfortunately the posters are already sold out! [Source: Found through JD~ > A Life Well Wasted > Olly Moss]
Other great pieces by Olly.
He also designed this famous "spoilers" tee. Spoilt from Threadless.
I tried hot bubble tea (熱珍珠奶茶) today and it was good!

Bad Aftertaste

I posted about Google Wave back in May, and thanks to JY~ I am finally (finally) on it. I feel so behind. Yay for real time email. If you guys have an account or need an invite, holler!

I found this Chupa Chups packaging that's purposely made to look like a cigarette pack. Great influence on the kids. Remnant from a time when smoking was supposed to be cool?

Yay navy blue tights! Lovely photo by corduraenloquecida on Flickr. [Source: Creature Comforts]
I also like these pieces by corduraenloquecida: tights and couple.

Today I got followed by a super sketchy guy. Yeah, not fun. When I got off a couple stops after my destination to get rid of him, he even alighted the stop following and doubled back to where I was waiting for the next ride. I knew I was surrounded by people and never in grave danger, although he did purposely brush up against me, but it was still scary.

It's not the first time I've been followed and unfortunately I don't think it will be the last. Just goes to show all the people who think it's a paranoia. When a women knows, she knows. Ladies, trust your instinct - it is rarely wrong in this area no matter what other people tell you. It's worse if you let them convince you that you're overreacting and let your guard down. Please be careful.

Oh, and douchebags out there, I'm watching you.

Thankful Day

Happy (American) Thanksgiving, everyone!

Even though I'm not getting any actual turkey this year, I won't hold back on posting virtual gobble goodness! Check for the recipes and make your own.

Under One Roof

There is an Antarctica special on TV tonight. Woot!
[Update: It was actually more on glaciers and was also very depressing (global warming and what not) so I stopped watching. I still want to go though!]

Two movies and four books later, I still don't get the whole Twilight hype, but the Vancouver house, 118 Stevens Drive, used by the Cullens certainly is beautiful. I like the tiered component and that the floors lead out to a terrace. Reminds me remotely of Falling Water. Up for sale through Jason Soprovich. [Source: Found through MA~ > Soprovich]
Yay for overlayed photos! [Source: In the sack and of the sack]
